FINAL ROUND AUDITIONS JANUARY 13 OPEN TO PUBLIC

AMES, Iowa -- The public is invited to hear some of Iowa's best young student musicians perform during the final round of Central Iowa Symphony's Young Artist auditions on Saturday, January 13.

Eight musicians from throughout Iowa will be participating in the CIS Young Artist Auditions January 13 at the Music Building on the Iowa State University campus in Ames. The final round beginning at 1 p.m. in the Martha Ellen Tye Recital Hall is open to the public. It will feature finalists selected from the first round of the auditions.

"As part of Central Iowa Symphony's outreach and education mission, the Young Artist Auditions provide highly talented and skilled young musicians the opportunity to audition for a solo performance with the symphony," said James Hannon, CIS music director and conductor. "The audition process itself is a valuable performance experience for emerging musicians, and the written comments the students receive from the judges are an important learning benefit as well."

The top students from the audition will perform in concert with CIS on February 24. Among this year's participants are six string players, one vocalist and one pianist.
