Join Central Iowa Symphony for music from classic Broadway

Broadway Comes to Iowa
7 p.m., Friday, July 28, Herman Park Pavilion, Boone
7 p.m., Saturday, July 29, Bandshell Park, Ames

Music from your favorite Broadway musicals will be performed live this month in Ames and Boone, compliments of the Central Iowa Symphony.

The orchestra will present its free summer pops concert at Herman Park Pavilion on South Greene Street in Boone on Friday, July 28. The program will be repeated the next evening at Bandshell Park on Duff Avenue & 5th Street in Ames. Both concerts will begin at 7 p.m.

This will be the second Pops concert series for the Central Iowa Symphony under the baton of conductor James Hannon, who also is director of orchestras at Iowa State University.

Hannon has selected Broadway musicals as the theme for what will be the seventh year of the orchestra's popular summer pops program. Featured during the concerts will be music from familiar arrangements of timeless classics such as West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Chicago, The Music Man, and many others. The concerts are sure to offer something for everyone.

At both pops programs, concert-goers also will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the 2006-07 concert season. Season tickets offer an $11.00 savings over the cost of individual tickets for all four subscription concerts. Purchasers of season tickets will also receive a complimentary gift bag of 3M products - a $20 value.
