CIS Opens Annual Young Artist Auditions
AMES, Iowa -- Central Iowa Symphony is now accepting applications from young artists across the state to compete in the 2007 Young Artist Auditions, held Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Music Building on the Iowa State University campus. Auditions are open to Iowa residents, grade 12 or younger. It is open to wind, string, brass, percussion, piano and voice students. Applications should be postmarked by Monday, December 11, 2006.
Winners will perform with Central Iowa Symphony on February 24, 2007, as part of the “Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales" concert at Ames City Auditorium.
Central Iowa Symphony is comprised of professional musicians, music educators, exceptional student performers and accomplished amateurs from Ames and other communities in a four-county area. The current roster includes more than 60 musicians from Ames, Des Moines, Nevada, Gilbert, Boone, Story City, Jefferson, Marshalltown, Ankeny, Urbandale and Stratford.
